Acting Minister of Health Teymur Musayev addressed an international scientific conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the oncology service in Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Heydar Aliyev Center, the National Oncology Center, the Azerbaijan Society of Oncologists, the American Clinical Oncology Society and the Regional Development Public Union organized a seminar on May 21 dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Oncology Service in Azerbaijan. International scientific conference on "Modern approach to diagnosis and treatment" was held.

Opening the conference, which was organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center taking into account the requirements of the quarantine regime, Director General of the National Oncology Center, Academician Jamil Aliyev informed the conference participants about the establishment of the oncology service in Azerbaijan and its 80-year history. Aliyev said that the high level of oncology services in our country, the dynamic increase in efficiency and meeting the latest standards was possible due to the hard work of people working in this field and the constant care and attention of the state. President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva have made great efforts to build and put into operation the examination and treatment structures, polyclinics and surgical buildings, and the Children's Oncology Clinic equipped with nanotechnology at the National Oncology Center, the flagship of the oncology service.

Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs of the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, read a congratulatory letter from President Ilham Aliyev to the conference participants and wished success to the conference. The congratulatory letter stressed that the holding of this prestigious international scientific conference on oncology in our country, which was attended by many world-renowned scientists and specialists, is a clear indication of Azerbaijan's ever-growing prestige in the fight against cancer.

In turn, the First Deputy Minister of Health, Acting Minister of Health Teymur Musayev noted that the material and technical base of health facilities in the country has been fundamentally updated for about 20 years. "New buildings have been erected for health facilities, as well as human resources have been strengthened. In general, the health of the population is a priority in the country.

The event focused on the history of oncology development in Azerbaijan, achievements of modern oncology, chairman of the Health Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's International Relations Department Soltan Mammadov, professor at Oxford University David Kerr, professor at the University of Washington, USA. Professor Julie Gralou, Executive Vice President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Professor Suayib Yalci of Hacettepe University in Turkey delivered congratulatory speeches to the country's oncologists on the occasion of the anniversary.

The conference was attended by leading specialists of the National Oncology Center, as well as professors and leading specialists from Washington and West Virginia Universities, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, Will Cornell Medical University, Oxford University, Genoa University, Hacettepe University, Turkey. continued with reports on various topics on modern diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors. The conference aroused great interest in the discussion of modern diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as various concepts of traditional approaches to the treatment of oncological diseases. The "Treatment of malignant tumors" section of the conference, which continues with sections on the main areas of oncology, was marked by the exchange of experiences and scientific discussions of Leylakhanim Malikova, Elkhan Kazimov, Samir Gurbanov with colleagues from the United States and Italy Mattro Lambertini and Ashis Saxena.

Professor David Kerr's "The Path of Biomarkers in Colorectal Cancer," Professor Suayib Yalcin's "Drug Treatment for Early Colorectal Cancer," Professor Elin Sigurdson's "Colorectal Cancer Treatment" at Fox Chase Cancer Center Richard Goldberg, a professor at the University of West Virginia's Cancer Institute, gave a talk on "Treatment of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer."
